Rhubarb by Candlelight Trip & Dinner
Thursday March 2nd
The season for forced rhubarb is upon us. So in celebration of this famed Yorkshire ingredient, we invite you to take a trip with us to experience the secret world of the rhubarb triangle.
The day starts with a leisurely brunch at Eric’s. Then we’ll travel by private coach to Oldroyd’s Farm in Wakefield, where we’ll be greeted with coffee on arrival.
The rhubarb growers will travel back in time with us to 2700BC to trace rhubarb’s ancient history and will show us the unbelievable sight of rhubarb growing indoors in the dark, lit for us only by candlelight. If you listen carefully, you may even be able to hear it growing…
After the rhubarb tour, we return to Eric’s for an early dinner, with Yorkshire rhubarb in pride of place on the menu to be enjoyed, of course, by candlelight.
